I have been into fish keeping for over ten years but had a break before starting again about 3 years ago. I saw a tank at my local car boot with everything included for a measly £8! I bought it and went about setting up a Cichlid tank......Silly me really! It was only 24" x 12" x 10", far to small for Cichlids. I bought a Pseudotropheus Demasoni and an unknown yellow cichlid. They soon began attacking each other so I decided to upgrade.....after only 2 weeks :-).
I visited my local fish shop (Maidenhead Aquatics Bracknell) and saw a beautiful Aquaone Euroview 90 tank, this was about ten times bigger than my old one, holding about 260 litres as opposed to about 28. I filled it with cheap slate bought from the garden center and then over time added more Cichlids.
The bug had bitten, I couldn't contain myself so decided to buy another tank and set it up as a high tech planted aquarium. I bought the tank from eBay for £16 and built the hood / stand. A lot of reading later and MANY different scapes I decided to get rid of the Cichlids and convert the bigger tank into the planted aquarium. Currently the smaller tank is empty but I have plans on a reef tank :-)
